Brownfield Redevelopment Authority
The Jackson Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (JBRA) promotes the revitalization of environmentally distressed areas, and facilitates the implementation of Brownfield Plans relating to the designation and treatment of Brownfield Redevelopment zones. The authority oversees the use of tax increment financing on select properties, such as former industrial and commercial sites, that need special attention to be redeveloped. Taxes from these properties are captured to fund redevelopment.
JBRA Board & Meetings
The JBRA is overseen by a board of 11 members and generally meets on the second Wednesday of even months (February, April, June, August, October, December) at 9:00 am. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all meeting will be held virtually until further notice. Most of the agenda items are internal matters and do not involve the public; however, in the event that an external application is submitted, it shall comply with the schedule below to provide staff the time to prepare the analysis. The City encourages applicants to inform staff of their plans prior to official submission of a request. Doing so will help to avoid a delay in the consideration of a proposal.
