A section of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive (formerly Francis Street) will shut down for two weeks as Amtrak crews reconstruct a railroad crossing.
MLK Drive between Louis Glick Highway and Pearl Street will close at 8 a.m. Monday, April 15 and is set to reopen Friday, April 26.
During this closure, northbound traffic will be detoured west onto Louis Glick Highway, north on West Avenue, and east on Ganson Street back to MLK Drive. Southbound will use Cooper Street.
The Michigan Department of Transportation says the upgraded crossing will provide a smoother surface for drivers.
