City of Jackson warns of email scam

City Hall winter spring

The City of Jackson is warning residents and contractors about an email scam. A contractor that works with the City recently reported an email they received from someone claiming to be from the “City of Jackson Business License Management Division”. The message, which includes the City of Jackson logo, asks for payment to renew a license by February 5, 2020. It then tells contractors to click on a link at the bottom of the message for more information.

There is no “Business License Management Division” at the City of Jackson, only the Department of Neighborhood and Economic Operations (NEO). NEO does not send out messages like this. Residents and contractors who may have also gotten the scam message should not comply with this request and not click on the link that accompanies it.

If residents or contractors have received this message, please report it to Neighborhood and Economic Operations at 517-788-4060.
