Colleen Sullivan

City Council
Title: Council Member, Ward 6
Phone: 517-257-8714

Elected in 2017, Colleen Sullivan is currently serving her first term on the Jackson City Council as the 6th Ward representative.

Sullivan attended neighboring Albion College where she received her B.A. in Psychology and Sociology/Anthropology. There she served in leadership roles ranging from drum major to president of Amnesty International and deputy service chairwoman of Alpha Theta. She also spent a great deal of time volunteering in local mentoring programs, teaching children to read and volunteering for the Special Olympics.

While working as a child and adolescent treatment specialist, Sullivan volunteered her time and resources to lead an art therapy program and to co-chair the recreation committee. She has also worked as a production stage manager and a records manager in the legal field.

After surviving pre-eclampsia and H.E.L.L.P. syndrome, she became an advocate for maternal health care and awareness. As her son went on to be diagnosed with autism and mild cerebral palsy, she worked within the special needs community to ensure that Jackson had a functioning therapeutic autism program. She received the Courage to Fight Back award from Lifeways for her role in this.
