Active Aging Program

PLEASE NOTE - 6/23:  

1.  Active Aging program changes while the Boos Center is under construction, 6/28-7/18:

  • Programs held at Northeast Elementary, 1024 Fleming Ave - Fri-7/1; Fri-7/8*; Fri-7/15; Mon-7/18   *Tai Chi only 9:15-10:15

  • All programs closed, Mon-7/4

  • Fri-7/8 - SENIOR DAY at the Grand River Farmer's Market. Exercise Classes will be held at the Farmer's Market: Movement Matters - 9:30-10:25; Sit & Stay Fit - 10:40-11:30

  • All programs closed Mon-7/11 & Fri 7/18; Tue-7/12 Luncheon ON 

  • All programs resume back at the Boos Center, Tue-7/19

2.  Senior Splash starts Tuesday, 6/28, 9:00am-10:30am; $2.00


ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

Our program provides year-round opportunities for adults 50 and older.  We provide a range of opportunities that support individual well-being - physically, socially, intellectually. 

The $5.00 annual membership fee* allows members to access:  free, low- /moderate-intensity exercise classes; Tai Chi (monthly fee); Line Dance (session fee); Lunch & Learn events;  Worth-A-Try! events; twice monthly Bingo; self/group-led games; monthly luncheons at the Gene Davis Banquet Center; affordable and/or more adventurous worldwide travel opportunities; etc.  

To date, nearly 500 adults enjoy all that this program offers!

WORTH-A-TRY! / LUNCH & LEARN / WORKSHOP EVENTS:

EXERCISE OPPORTUNITIES:  NEWLY ADDED

ZUMBA - SUMMER ONLY - JUNE 8TH-AUGUST 17TH

Zumba, Wednesdays, 10:00 am-11:00 am at the Boos Center - $4.00/class;  Michelle Woods, Instructor




Walk This Way:  Self-led walking opportunity inside the Boos Center - M/F - between 9:30a - 10:30a - or outside throughout Loomis Park at your convenience.

Movement Matters:  A no-impact aerobic dance, strengthening & stretching program to strengthen your heart, increase muscle strength and improve flexibility: Boos Center – M/F - 9:30am-10:25am  

Sit & Stay Fit:  A seated & sometimes standing cardio, strengthening & stretching program to strengthen your heart, increase muscle strength and improve flexibility: Boos Center – M/F - 10:40am-11:30am



SOCIAL EVENTS:

Boos Bingo - Held the1st & 3rd Tuesday of each month; Caller starts at noon.  Admission fee is $2; extra cards are 8 for $1.  Free refreshments.

Fun & Games - Self or Group-lead activities such as:  Cards, Crosswords, Sudoku, Brain Teasers, Jigsaw puzzles, board games, coloring, etc. in the Boos Center – Mon & Fri – 9:00 am – 11:00 am.  Supplies provided.

Monthly Luncheons - $11 - Enjoy great food, fun and friendship at the Gene Davis Banquet Center the 2nd Tuesday of each month – 11:00 am-2:00 pm; Buffet starts at 12:00 pm.  Purchase tickets at the Boos Center, Mon/Fri, 8am - Noon.  MUST PURCHASE BY NOON, the Friday prior to the luncheon.
