In-Service Inspection Program
The Fire Prevention Bureau administers the In-Service Inspection Program. The Inspection Program ensures that businesses adhere to the Fire Prevention Code.
Items checked during inspections include:
Additional Program Information
- Compressed gas storage
- Electrical systems and connections
Fire protection systems
- General maintenance
Proper posting of addresses
- Underground storage facilities
The program also allows suppression personnel to become acquainted with the buildings and the types of conditions they might encounter should an emergency situation arise.
The In-Service Inspection Program is used to follow-up with information gathered in compliance with Fire Fighter Right-to-Know and SARA Title III survey data as required by state and federal regulations. There are approximately 1,680 businesses and commercial occupancies in the city that are inspected under this program.
