Absentee ballots are being mailed for the Tuesday, Nov. 7 election. Voters in the City of Jackson now have a second location to submit completed absentee ballots. The second box has been placed in the parking lot at Nixon Park, 400 E. North St. A security camera is installed to monitor the box 24/7.
This is in addition to the absentee ballot drop box in front of City Hall, 161 W. Michigan Ave. A second drop box was needed to comply with election changes approved by voters in "Proposal 2" from the Nov. 2022 election. The Nixon Park location was selected so voters on the City's north side had convenient access to a drop box.
The City Clerk's Office is mailing a little over 2,100 absentee ballots to Jackson voters who requested an absent voter ballot. Completed absentee ballots must be submitted by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7 to be counted in the election. This includes drop box submissions, mailing, and hand-delivering ballots.
The City Clerk advises voters to submit completed ballots as soon as possible.
