[ARCHIVED] MLKCIA hosting 2nd Jackson Business Resource Fair

Jackson Small Business Resource Fair

The MLK Corridor Improvement Authority’s strategic plan for enhancing Southside Jackson identifies small business development as a vital step in creating a flourishing MLK Corridor. This month, the group is hosting a second Jackson Business Owner Resource Fair to connect new and existing business owners with crucial resources and services. The event will take place at the MLK Center on October 30th from 3:00pm to 5:30pm. Attendees will learn more about the support available to those starting or growing businesses in Jackson and network with service providers, city leaders, and other entrepreneurs. Service providers will offer insights into starting or growing a business and information about how they assist local business owners at every stage. Attendees can register for the event as a business owner or service provider at Jackson Small Business Resource Fair Tickets, Mon, Oct 30, 2023 at 3:00 PM | Eventbrite

“Creating a thriving business district is an important part of MLK CIA’s redevelopment plan, and these events are key to helping people understand what’s available to them in Jackson,” noted MLK Corridor Improvement Authority member George Brown.

The Jackson City Council created the MLK Corridor Improvement Authority in 2020 to direct redevelopment efforts in the area, attract amenities, create jobs, and expand housing. This second resource fair is one of many initiatives designed to stimulate business development within the City of Jackson, especially in its Southside communities. Earlier this month, the MLK Corridor Improvement Authority and the City of Jackson reached an agreement with local developers to construct six multi-unit rental buildings along the MLK Corridor to provide housing for residents earning between 60 and 120 percent of the median income. MLK Corridor Improvement Authority members are also establishing an Entrepreneurial and Real Estate Fund to drive Southside business growth and real estate enhancements.
