Jackson residents looking for summer fun and connections with local public safety have plenty of opportunities this summer. City of Jackson Police and Fire Services is hosting the Summer Safety Series throughout summer 2024.
This five event series connects residents with public safety in neighborhood parks. The events feature free food, games, giveaways, safety information, and bike raffles with helmets for ages 12 and under. Every event has two $50 Visa gift card giveaways for ages 13 to 18 years old.
Fire trucks and police patrol cars will be at each event for residents to get a close look at them. The final event of the series is happening from 12 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14 at the MLK Recreation Center, 1107 Adrian St. Organizers previously held events at Kiwanis, Lions, Loomis and Nixon parks.
Director Elmer Hitt says Police and Fire Services is taking what they do for the annual National Night Out event and expanding the program to different areas of Jackson. “Our City benefits when residents build relationships with public safety and that’s what we’re looking forward to doing this summer with these events,” Hitt said.
Event updates will be posted on the City’s Facebook page and website.
