Now in its fourth year, the Summit to Reduce Violence remains dedicated to building a safer community. The 2025 summit is happening Wednesday, April 23 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the American 1 Event Center, 128 W. Ganson St. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. All community members are welcome to attend this event.
This year's theme is domestic violence and focuses on education, resources, and solutions. Tanesha Ash-Shakoor, J.D., a survivor, advocate, and legal expert, will share insights on breaking the cycle of abuse. Together, the event will raise awareness, expand access to support, and take meaningful action to end domestic violence in the Jackson community.
The Summit to Reduce Violence is organized by the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office, the City of Jackson, the Jackson Juneteenth Committee, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Jackson Public Schools, and Aware Shelter.
