The City of Jackson is announcing candidates for its upcoming 2025 elections. The City Clerk’s Office has confirmed that the following candidates have successfully filed for the offices up for election this year.
WARD 1
- Dena K. Morgan
- Arlene Robinson
WARD 3
- Jeromy Alexander
- Caleb Blondke
- Angelita V. Gunn
WARD 5
- Christy May Davis
- Shalanda Hunt
A primary for Ward 3 will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025. The top two candidates with the most votes will advance to the Nov. election. There will be no primary elections for Wards 1 and 5 because only two candidates filed. These offices will be decided in the Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025 election.
City of Jackson elections are non-partisan. The next election for Mayor is happening in 2026. The City Treasurer position and City Council seats for Wards 2, 4 and 6 are up for re-election in 2028.
This is the last City of Jackson election cycle to take place in an odd-numbered year. In 2023, the City Council voted to switch the City’s elections to even-numbered years to go along with Presidential and Gubernatorial elections to increase voter turnout and reduce election costs. Those elected in 2025 will serve five year terms on the City Council instead of the standard four years so these offices can adjust to even-numbered year elections.
