The City of Jackson encourages residents to help share the following updates related to support services for individuals displaced by the Reed Manor fire. Community partners and nonprofit organizations continue working together to support residents and connect them with available resources.

United Way of South Central Michigan has shared a comprehensive update on their Facebook page. Residents are encouraged to follow their page for the latest information on community support efforts and donation needs. Donations, both items and financial contributions, are still needed.

Reed Manor Resident Check-In

Reed Manor management and the American Red Cross are working in tandem to reconnect with displaced residents from the Reed Manor fire. Some residents may not have had updated contact information on file, or may have left their phones or personal items behind during the fire. regardless if you have housing and support through this transition period, please check-in with Reed Manor and the Red Cross to ensure that your name is registered with the Reed Manor fire case number so that you can get connected with recovery resources, insurance support, and assistance going forward.

The Secretary of State will be at Reed Manor March 20, from 12–2 PM to help residents displaced by the fire replace their driver’s licenses and state IDs free of charge.

United Way of South Central Michigan is coordinating all volunteer opportunities related to supporting Reed Manor residents. Organizations or individuals interested in posting volunteer opportunities are encouraged to contact Bethany Stutzman at United Way of South Central Michigan.

Displaced Reed Manor residents are encouraged to connect with staff at Reed Manor or the Red Cross shelter at St. John’s UCC on Mechanic Street. This helps ensure residents are connected with available resources and support services as needs continue to emerge.

๐—ฆ๐—ก๐—”๐—ฃ ๐—•๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐˜ ๐—”๐˜€๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ
Residents who receive SNAP food assistance and lost groceries in the Reed Manor fire may qualify for replacement benefits through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

DHHS staff will be available on March 20, from 9 AM to 3 PM at the Red Cross shelter at St. John’s UCC (801 S. Mechanic St.) to assist residents with replacement food benefits, Bridge Cards, applications, and other emergency assistance.

Individuals currently receiving food assistance may be eligible for replacement benefits up to their current monthly food issuance. Please complete the form below and email it directly to MDHHS at MDHHS-JacksonVCL@michigan.gov, or drop it off at their local office at 301 E. Louis Glicky Hwy. in Jackson (2nd floor).
