[ARCHIVED] Jackson City Council Feb. 9 Meeting

Jackson City Council 2-9 image

Here are highlights from the Tuesday, Feb. 9 virtual meeting of the Jackson City Council.

  • The City Council unanimously voted to allocate an additional $120,000 toward a foreclosure prevention program. The program is administered by the Community Action Agency and funded through federal COVID-19 relief funds. The funds are available to City residents of a low-to-moderate income who can prove they're under financial strain from the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • With flooding an ongoing issue in the neighborhood around the county park that holds the Cascades Falls, the City Council unanimously approved a resolution that asks Jackson County to limit the amount of waterfall shows at the falls until the flooding is under control. Some residents believe the water from the shows is causing the flooding in the area.
  • The council approved the sale of a City-owned home on the 500 block N. Waterloo Street. The City is in the process of selling off City-owned lots and properties.
  • A contract was approved for a landscaping company to do lawn mowing and irrigation in the City's parks, cemeteries and downtown green spaces.

A recording of the meeting is available on this page. The next City Council meeting is Tuesday, Feb, 23.
