Residents are now enjoying new features in a neighborhood park following a big investment from the City of Jackson. Optimist Park was reshaped in 2023 due to the sale of vacant commercial property along N. West Avenue.
The construction project wrapped up this fall and brought a new basketball court, playground, walkway and parking to this north side park. $1.5 million from the property sale was used for the park construction project, along with upcoming renovations to the Boos Recreation Center on Jackson’s east side.
More fencing, a swing set and additional landscaping will be added in spring 2024.
