Here are highlights from the Nov. 10, 2020 virtual meeting of the Jackson City Council:
-Two street construction projects are taking a step forward following City Council approval. The council voted to advance special assessments for the reconstruction of Morrell Street from Greenwood Avenue to MLK Drive and Steward Avenue from the railroad tracks to Ganson Street. The street construction projects are likely to take place in 2021 after further consideration from the council.
-The City Council approved a contract for the planned roof replacement at the Boos Recreation Center in Loomis Park. Federal funds are being used on the project. The recreation center needs a new roof to prevent water damage inside the building. Construction will commence this fall.
-Habitat for Humanity is set to do a home rehabilitation on Hibbard Street following the sale of City-owned property. The City Council approved the sale at the meeting.
