[ARCHIVED] Jackson City Council Nov. 24, 2020 meeting

11-24-20 City Council meeting

Here are highlights of what happened at the Nov. 24, 2020 virtual meeting of the Jackson City Council:

-The City of Jackson is getting its first marijuana business. The City Council approved a marijuana license for Attitude Wellness at 1512 N. West Ave. The new dispensary, which is operated by the Lume Cannabis Company, has also been granted State of Michigan approval. It will service medical and adult use marijuana needs. City officials have been told by the dispensary that it will be opening soon. The City has been working on getting local marijuana legislation finalized since it was approved by Michigan voters two years ago.

-A presentation was given by the Neighborhood and Economic Operations Department that explored proposed changes to the City's rental inspection program. Inspection fees could increase under new plans, but the inspection cycles could also be extended. The City Council will give further consideration to these proposals at a future meeting.

The final City Council meeting of 2020 is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 8.
