Three new recruits are the future of the Jackson Police Department (JPD). Noah Simon, Kayla Dean, and Brendan Erwin are all starting training this month at the Mid-Michigan Police Academy. After successful completion of training, they will become JPD patrol officers.
This will be the first law enforcement experience for Simon, a 22-year-old from Mason. 30-year-old Erwin is from Owosso and has prior experience as a corrections officer with the Michigan Department of Corrections. Dean, a 26-year-old Jackson native, has worked as a reserve with JPD for the past two years.
Hiring recruits and sponsoring their training is an ongoing strategy from JPD to overcome staffing and recruitment and staffing challenges. We're looking forward to seeing these future officers on the force!
