[ARCHIVED] Tree dedicated to recognize AAPI community

AAPI tree event

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the City of Jackson! On Tuesday, May 31, the community gathered at Elnora Moorman Plaza to dedicate a cherry blossom tree to recognize the contributions of our Asian and Pacific American residents.

This event also featured a proclamation presented by Mayor Daniel Mahoney, music and a traditional cherry blossom poem reading by local kids.

Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is celebrated every May across the nation. This is the first time the City of Jackson has held an event to recognize the contributions of its AAPI residents.
