Here are highlights of what happened at the Tuesday, Nov. 15 Jackson City Council meeting:
- Hearings were held for construction projects on three streets. The City is planning improvement projects in 2023 on Wisner Street from Wildwood Avenue to Ganson Street, Wildwood Avenue from West Avenue to Steward Avenue, and Pearl Street from Cooper Street to Waterloo Avenue. The projects would be partially paid for using special assessments. The City Council will give final consideration to the projects at a future meeting.
- Community events, including the Downtown Jackson Christmas Parade, were approved by the City Council.
- The City Council approved the purchase of a new camera system for the City’s sewer system. The cameras help City staff identify sewer blockages and quickly resolve issues. The current system is outdated and records using VHS tapes.
- The City Council discussed potential solutions to housing instability issues in the City of Jackson.
