Insurance Services Office (ISO) Rating

The JFD has an Insurance Services Office (ISO) score of 4. This score is a reflection of a community's fire protection efforts and is used across the United States. A department receive  a Public Protection Classification from 1 to 10. Class 1 generally represents superior property fire protection, and Class 10 indicates that the community's fire suppression program does not meet the ISO's minimum criteria.

By classifying communities in this way, the ISO helps communities evaluate their public fire protection services. The program provides a nationwide standard that helps fire departments in planning and budgeting for facilities, equipment, and training. By securing lower fire insurance premiums for communities with better public protection, the program provides incentives and rewards the communities that improve their firefighting services.
